At roughly 300,000 Scoville Heat Units, our habanero pepper flakes are fiery hot. Our fresh orange habanero peppers are hand-picked in Mexico, cleaned, stems removed, oven-dried, and crushed into bright orange pepper flakes.

There are many different types of habanero peppers, they come in a number of different colors and the heat level varies for each different color and type. Habaneros can come in quite a variety of colors, from chocolate, red, orange, white, yellow, and even purple. The lowest rating is about 60,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU) while the highest rated is around 600,000 SHU. In general between all of the habanero types and colors, habanero peppers average about 300,000 Scoville Heat Units. Our orange habanero peppers regularly test at between 300,000 SHU to 350,000. This is generally hotter than the usual orange habanero peppers you will find in your local grocery store as our peppers are grown in ideal tropical conditions in Mexico.
The habanero has had a long and complicated journey that has taken it all over the world. This pepper’s name translates to “from Havana” The proper Cuban name for Havana is actually La Habana. Not only are habaneros commonly found in Mexican cuisine, but they are also commonly grown in Mexico. You can find them grown in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula more than in any other part of the world.
